Perennial, stems 4–8" (10–20 cm).
Leaf one, cylindric, 1˝–2˝ x length of flower stalk.
Flowers maroon near tip, white or green below.
Blooming May–June.
Metamorphic outcrops, talus.
Elevation 6550–8250' (2000–2500 m).
Sierra Nevada (Spanish Needle Peak, Kern Co.).
