Map Satellite A seasonal lake forms in this valley during the rainy season and, depending upon the rainfall, may cover most of the valley. During the summer months the lake dries, leaving an oak-woodland savannah with valley oak, Quercus lobata, the dominant tree. There is some riparian community with cottonwood, Populus fremontii, and willow, Salix sp., as well as an intermittent marsh with Scirpus sp. and Juncus sp. This is the only known site of the rare Limnanthes bakeri. The area is frequented by birds, with over 50 breeding species. Migratory waterfowl occur here during the season. Integrity: The area is grazed and is disturbed. Use: Private December 1977
